Zip, The Wonder Dog!

Zip is a famous dog…well, at least he is to his mommy's friends! Years ago, LeeAnna started sending out Halloween cards with Zip in his costume. It’s gotten so popular among her friends that they all start hounding her around the end of September to find out what they can expect from Zip that year!! I should also note that I’m not even allowed to show the photos until after Halloween! Therefore, now that the last Halloween candy has been given out, here’s Zip...2010 edition! Go Cowboys!!!!!! Although, with the way they are playing these days, Zip might be rethinking his costume choice this year! ;)

The Last Days of Three...

This Mama and I go WAY back! We worked together at my very first job right out of high school when I was the ripe old age of 18!! These days we happen to share a best friend and I’m so happy that her sweet family is still in my life 15 years later! ;) We went out to document their family as it is now because it will be changing in just a short few months and let me tell you, Miss R was a BLAST! She was a posing fool for me and I was absolutely in heaven! Thank you so much for picking me to forever freeze your family at this time in photographs! I am honored!

The P family is new to Melibelle and oh my goodness, did we have a blast! Miss E and I hit it off right off the bat!! Around halfway through she was so gracious to share her accessories with me and I was rockin’ her bracelet and necklace! Mom was also so kind to let me take her brand spanking new love outside and brave it in the sticker burrs...let me tell you, it was so worth it! These are some of my all time favorite newborn portraits EVER! You have probably guessed that I loved my time with the P family..thank you for allowing me to document this special time for your family!

I don't even know where to start when describing the wonderful evening that I had at this wedding! I had absolutely the most fun! Everyone was so warm and welcoming and I felt like a member of the party and not in the least bit like I was working, which is such a treat for me! It helps a little bit that I knew some of the family… and three of them were my family! ;) John and Lois are the perfect picture of love! You could just feel so much love between them that seemed to rub off on everyone in the room! Please accept my heartfelt congratulations again, John & Lois! I have absolutely no doubt that you will have a blissfully wonderful happy marriage!

I am sure that many of you have met my best friend Jeni, who is so wonderful to help me from time to time with Melibelle! I seriously could not ask for a better friend and I could not love her more!! This time around she’s on the other side of the camera with her sweet family for their yearly photos. They are always so kind to let me play and try new things with them and I’m forever grateful for it. These are by far my favorite photos I’ve ever taken of them…okay, so I say that every year, but I digress. I really mean it this time. Thank you Jeni for everything you do; I simply couldn’t make it without you!

At this point, it will come as no surprise that newborns tend to be my favorite subjects! When there are two newborns, I’m just in double heaven!!! That is exactly where I was for this session with these absolutely precious twin girls. One newborn session usually takes a while… so with double trouble, it was definitely a lengthy process! Mom and Dad, you were great while I tried to capture the fleeting tiny moments of your beautiful girls. Thank you for allowing me to do just that!

WOW… I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to be a part of this wonderful new start up company! I can’t REALLY tell you how cool their product is and how all you mommies are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE this… YET! For all my Tyler readers, they will be debuting at Mistletoe & Magic, so you are going to want to plan to go this year! Trust me on this and as soon as I can share all about it, I will!! This particular session got changed at the very LAST MINUTE... as in the night before! We came up with this new plan and BOY OH BOY am I EVER glad we did! Miss M and I go back a long way, so I'm always SOOOO happy to photograph her and all her beauty! Let me tell you, I had no clue how this crazy tea party idea I concocted was going to turn out! I just knew that with this beauty and some good ole' imagination, it had to turn out amazing...and did it ever! I adore and I mean ADORE every single portrait that I took this day! Mom and I worked hard and it was HOOOOT, but so worth it! :) Thanks again Kerri for allowing me to document your little angel in every stage of life!

My brother-in-law had a new little baby boy and you know I was right there to take his photographs!! I have been fairly vocal about my love for capturing the fleeting memories of a newborns first days, so you can imagine how happy it makes me to do this for our families! We spent the afternoon loving on this little man and capturing a few portraits in between! And a special shout out goes to grandma who saved the day with a trip to Target to buy a bean bag... which I left at home!! Bad photographer! We were making do without but she made it so much easier by getting one! :) Thanks again! :)

i love capturing the detail of newborns!! It all fades so fast...the peeling skin, how tiny every thing is, and he has an amazing pair of lips!! :) He could be a lip model... if there is such a thing!! :)

Yes I said Christmas cards!! And I'm VERY aware that it's 100 + degrees outside so this may seem hard to think about! However if you want to have photographs done for Christmas cards this year we need to get busy!! Please drop me a email at melissa@melibellephoto.com so we can start scheduling your session, dates always fill up fast around this time of year.

Christmas cards work differently than regular prints because the third party I use for prints does not offer cards. To order your cards, please email me the card choice you'd like and the picture or pictures you would like to use. I will email you a proof to approve; once approved I will email you the total and my address in order to send payment. Once I deposit your check and it clears I will order your cards and they will be mailed directly to your house! Easy as that! :) All Christmas card orders need to be in to me by Nov 15th

Where to begin with these two? I have known this blushing bride since we were in middle school! In high school she met the man of her dreams and they were absolutely head over heels for each other. You know, the crazy beautiful kind of love that makes you sick and jealous at the same time? They were that couple. They dated off and on through high school and I was just positive that they would marry and never part. Life happened (as it usually does at that age) and they drifted apart. About now you’re saying Melissa.. this seems like a weird blog post for an engaged couple! I’m right, aren’t I? Surprise! Fate intervened and brought these two crazy in love high school kids back together! And I have been so fortunate to be the one to document this sweet time in their love story! Their wedding is in 3 days and I can't wait!! :) Congrats you guys!

This sweet girl came to Melibelle through a referral from one of my favorite little men, which is the HIGHEST compliment I can get from my clients & friends! Needless to say, I was honored to take Miss K's photos one sunny beautiful day at the arboretum. She was the bell of the ball so to speak... everyone that walked by had to stop and interact with her and gush about how sweet and cute she was. She was the most well behaved toddler going as far as Momma telling her to stand here and smile and she actually would!! She's under 2... it was crazy awesome!! :) And lucky for me, they asked me to take little bro's newborn pics, so I got to play with them again a few weeks after these photos where taken! :) I love my job! :)

I was lucky enough to be a part of this special family before Miss K came into the picture! It's always a treat to see a family before and after a new baby and experience the dynamic change of bringing a wonderful new being into their everyday life! This family did not disappoint... they've changed and adapted to this lovely little girl in their life like she was always there. By simply being in their home for a few hours, you can just feel the family closeness and love and I count myself privileged to have been a part of this special time in their life!

Newborns are my favorite…and this is absolutely no exaggeration! I spend obscene amounts of time with them because I seem to have endless ideas running wild through my head for their shoots and I simply cannot control myself! I just adore taking pictures of these precious new little beings! This little man wasn’t as young as I typically prefer for a newborn shoot and therefore he was more awake and cognizant of his surroundings, but he is so adorably cute that I really didn’t care one bit!

And this little man is incredibly lucky to have two amazingly caring big sisters and a big brother...I can see a lot of trouble in their future!! :) He is one lucky little baby!! :)

Make-up's

Let's start with one of my favorite little men of all time! Mr. J is just so much stinking fun to be with! I told his mom that I don't know how she gets anything done all day because I'd just want to sit and play with him! He's funny and loving... he makes me giggle the whole time I'm with him! He stole my heart the first time I met him in 09'... we were at the Arboretum and he refused to hold either of his parents hands, but reached up to take my finger as we were walking! I was powerless to resist falling in love on the spot!! I was beyond thrilled to start off 2010 with him. We had a blast as usual!

These photographs will serve as his two year old photos, which is a very special tradition in his Daddy’s family. His grandmother made the outfit he is wearing in the first photo! Mr. J’s dad had his own two year old photos taken in that very outfit, so there was no choice but to do the same for sweet J. We had to follow up with a few Dallas Cowboy shots for Dad…I heard he is a big fan! :)

I had to share this last one to give you a window into the little guy at his best…playing and being silly! He must have done this about 100 times and I laughed literally every single time; he would poke his head out and then dissolve in laughter at himself. What a wonderful day with a precious boy!

Spring is in the air

and I am beside myself for all things green and beautiful again! How about you? Anyone living in the great state of Texas knows that we have a very limited window of opportunity to bask in the comfortable weather before the heat turns into summer sweat…so while it is here, I will continue to be a giddy girl about it!

Melibelle is still going strong and I am thrilled to be back on the blog. The Christmas season was extremely busy and a bit overwhelming, which is not a complaint in the least! I intended to take a short blog break in January and that turned into a much longer reprieve than I imagined. Spring has brought a rebirth of energy, so I decided to jump back in and start sharing with you again! I have been photographing a steady stream of absolute stunning cuteness, so I will start sharing the sessions that I have missed writing about. As for today, I will begin with some wonderful spring images that I took this past week. Enjoy this beautiful season with me and the short time it is here in Texas!

Kind of a Tyler family...

This lovely family resides all the way up in the great state of Illinois...but Momma is from Tyler! They were all in town for Turkey Day, so we took the opportunity to meet up and capture their precious family before it officially grows by one. They are expecting their second baby very soon and I was thrilled to catch their family at this stage and document the last moments of their life as a family of three. Photographing a toddler is always utterly unpredictable and Miss O was no exception! She was an adorable little ball of energy that we chased all over the park...and had a blast doing so! I had the honor of meeting this beautiful family well over a year ago during a wedding that I was lucky enough to photograph. I can't express how much I love meeting new friends through past clients...it is the ultimate thank you and compliment to my art and certainly makes me one happy girl! On a rather cold morning in Tyler, I made a special visit to their home to capture some family love and ended up having a wonderful time with all of them. Their sweet boy was a tad bit shy and slow to warm up to a crazy lady sticking a giant camera lens in his face, but he eventually came around! I absolutely adore some of the images that we captured of them just being a family...which is exactly what it is all about, right? Enjoy your sneak peek, guys! :)

Surprise!!

It is very unfortunate that I am only allowed to share one picture of this family; I can't tell you how much I would like to show you more! We had boundless fun on this shoot! Mr. K and I had a blast together...he was an expert in the field of posing and not in the least bit afraid to show off his sassy side! We shot in a new location that was chock full of amazing places and this wonderful family was up for absolutely anything, which brings me the most joy! Now, about showing only a single picture...Grandma bought two sessions for them as a Christmas present. They are expecting a little girl and she wanted them to be able to capture their growing family as it changes. We don't want to spoil the surprise, so I will keep this post short and sweet with one picture to peek your interest! :-) Expect to see more of these special people in the future!

Walk, walk, walking....

This is literally all that Mr. C wanted to do! :-) He is a very typical "almost" two year old, complete with new found independence...he was on the go the entire time and we tried just about every trick in the book to get him to sit with his parents! Despite the fact that he refused to sit and pose (and really...will any two year old??), I think we got some stunning shots and it was definitely a day not to be forgotten!

Finally he was too tired to fight us!! :)

My favorite moment also falls into the outtake category...in an attempt to get the little man into the shot with his parents, Dad was throwing him up in the air and proceeded to lose one of his shoes in the stream!! Dad saved the day, but the shoe was absolutely soaked through. Luckily Super Mom had a backup pair in the car. Now how is that for a fun outtake?! :-)

Family time at the Lake

This family marked the beginning of a very busy photography week in Tyler! These folks are related to my sister by marriage so technically we are not relatives, but you'd never know it! We met up before my niece's first birthday party and took some time to do their family portraits! Amanda told me that she hated photo time and it was usually so stressful for her, so I really hope this session wasn't that bad! Everyone did a FANTASTIC job and we got some great shots! While Mr D was throwing leaves and Miss M was keeping an eye on him, Dad and Mom snuck in some portraits of just the two of them! They told me it had been WAY too long since they'd had any of just the two of them, so we simply had to remedy that! :)

With two little ones under the age of seven, the outtakes are bountiful...so I chose my favorite four to share!! :)

Little men with little smiles!

I met up with the H family for a Christmas shoot and we all had a wonderful time, although as for the little man...I'm not so sure. :-) Mom assured me after our session that he was wound up and happy as could be, so I think he secretly had fun! He kept his smiles to himself for the most part, but once he decided to bestow one on me, it was fantastic!! I personally love to photograph a serious face, so I was extremely happy with things, but I did want to capture a smile or two for Mom and Dad. Really...how on earth could you not adore this sweet face either way?! :-)

This is my absolute favorite from the day!!

This is my favorite picture of the day by a long shot!! Dad had to leave a bit early, so we were trying very hard to get Mr. R to smile in at least one picture with him before his departure. It was just not happening because the precious little guy was studying and analyzing absolutely EVERYTHING! He had no time to be bothered with something as silly and mundane as smiling for silly portraits! So this was Dad's version of Mr. R smiling...could they be any sweeter?!

New Melibelle friends

I absolutely love making new friends of Melibelle Photography…it always feels like starting a new journey, so full of possibility, and the day I met this lovely family certainly did not disappoint! The “C” family and I met early one morning at the arboretum and we had an incredible time! Mr. J was a wonderful treat, warming up to me rather quickly and even wanting to hold my hand…be still my beating heart! He is smack dab in the middle of toddlerhood and thusly wanted no part in sitting on laps or benches, which always makes for both a challenging and rewarding experience! Thanks to all the extra work his patient parents put in, we got some truly memorable photos that are so precious! I had a blast…thanks for being such a fun and extremely cool family!! Mom was informing him that Tinkerbelle (his favorite!) was in the spider web! Look at his sweet little face looking so intently for her! Can you stand it?!

This was the give up moment when Mom just decided to let the little man do his own thing in a puddle…can you tell he loved it?!

There are simply some pictures that you KNOW as soon as you take them that you are going to love…this one is absolutely in that category. Mr. J was actually talking to the squirrels in this picture, but it is just so timeless and melts my heart every time I look at it!

This session was actually the inspiration for me to begin posting outtakes…thank you, Carly! ;-) Here is your outtake…this seriously makes me laugh…it completely sums up trying to get a toddler to actually be in a picture with you!!

What to say about this family... you see, this girl and I date back to the good ole' high school days! I feel so blessed to have such amazing friends who knew me then and now, every girl needs these kinds of friends in her life! It's also very fun to witness her family grow and change and I'm so happy to be the one to capture these memories for her! When her little man came into her life, I was the lucky one to capture his tiny sweetness

and when he turned one as well!

Now as Mr C has just recently turned 2, I've been blessed again to capture this next phase of their sweet family! Seriously could someone pinch me, I can't believe I get to do this. Documenting people's memories is why I am so passionate about photography. Thanks Chalna for letting me be the one to capture all of this for you and for all you do... I'm so happy to still call you a BFF after all these years!

There are times when I have to pinch myself to believe that I am lucky enough to do this for a living. It is hard to express in words how much I adore watching families grow and while I have only known this particular family for a short while, it still brings me immense joy to see them go from two adorable little girls to three! I had the pleasure of taking Mommy's maternity pictures not too long ago, which you can see here. When Jennifer contacted me to take the newest family shots, I was beside myself with excitement! Her oldest daughters are old pros at the whole picture taking process and it was no surprise that, just like last time, they made my job super easy! …or at least he is famous in some circles! According to LeeAnna and Steven’s friends, Zip is a celebrity of the highest caliber whose holiday attire is always something to behold. Zip has a massive fan base waiting with baited breath for each festive occasion to arrive, which is when LeeAnna dresses him up to the nines to celebrate. Halloween, as you can imagine, is his big holiday and we had a special shoot in his honor. He could not have been a better or more adorable model! On top of the Halloween fun, we managed to get their family Christmas portrait taken as well, so the day was a resounding success. I had a blast with all of you…I am sorry that all of our driving got us nowhere fast, but it was good times! :-) Enjoy your sneak peek!

Amazing family + amazing location = GREAT morning shoot

I have known this special family since I was a little girl…we attended the same church growing up, but I have not seen them in ages! I was thrilled when they found Melibelle Photography on Facebook and contacted me about a family session. I was already beside myself over the thought of reconnecting with such old friends and when I got to their ranch for the shoot, I was overwhelmed with excitement! There are times when I feel that I am stuck in a location rut, so to speak, due to so many sessions in Tyler. I don’t live there full time and am always looking for suggestions from my clients. Their ranch was equal to winning the location lottery! I will let the beauty of this amazing family and the stunning locations speak for itself…thanks to my sweet friends for your hospitality and sharing not only your ranch, but your love for each other with me. I had a blast!

I spent a very busy week in Tyler and had a blast getting in the holiday spirit! As the Christmas season rounds the corner, family sessions become my staple and this little family happens to belong to me! My brother, to be exact! Some serious sweet baby boy love!

This precious little man was an absolute dream come true to photograph and because of his calm and cozy disposition, I was able to capture some of my favorite newborn shots! He was incredibly sleepy and I took full advantage of the situation; thankfully he has the sweetest momma in the world and she had no problem with me playing with her snoozing little dreamer. Normally I prefer to shoot newborns in the first ten days of their life because they sleep more and allow for better shoots, but due to scheduling conflicts, Mr. W was slightly older than that by the time we got to together. Luckily, he transcended the “ten day” rule and slept peacefully throughout shoot! He was delicious in every way and the pictures turned out fantastic…Christy, thank you for letting me love on your sweet boy! I had the most amazing time!

Love is in the air

This couple has officially surpassed my wildest expectations as a photographer and handily stole my heart in what can only be considered one of my favorite photo shoots of all time. They were simply a dream to work with and required very little assistance to convey the love that was clearly written all over their faces. My job was only to steer them in the right direction and then their hearts swiftly took over the moment, turning the entire day into a testament of their love and commitment to each other. They held each other and shared sweet kisses and whispers…he made her laugh in the one true way that only your soul mate can. I will readily admit to not being the touchy feely sort, but after spending a morning with these two precious people, I am beginning to see the merit! If you are thinking about having an engagement session or simply want to honor your own love, please study these pictures and think about sharing an afternoon with my lens. This couple quickly seemed to forget that I was even in the vicinity, which made for some truly incredible photos. Congratulations to both of you and thank you for giving me the chance to witness such happiness in person. Stephanie, I could not be happier that you have obviously landed your Prince Charming!

EVERYONE gets 20-30 min and a few great shots of your little ones!

Package A will cost you $25 the day of the event and in a week or two you will get 3 of the best images that can be ordered online

Package B will cost you $75 the day of the event and a in week or two I will mail you a CD of the 3 best images along with a print release so you can print as many as you like.

more trying out of new toys

I am very lucky to have a lot of test subjects at my disposal when trying out new things with Melibelle Photography. My best friend’s kiddos are beautiful and willing partners in putting this business together and for that I am honored! It has been about two months since this test session and I am finally getting a break to spend some time inside these amazing pictures. I can’t express in words what wonderfully willing models these children have been for me or how much I appreciate them standing by and helping out during all the trials and tribulations that are inevitable when starting up a new venture. Each child has their own nuances and gifts that spark to life when I bring out the camera and I love each and every one of them. “C”, the middle child, is an extrovert who loves to play with me and the camera…and the camera adores her right back!

The youngest child, who is also the only boy, shocked us all by actually asking to take more pictures!

The oldest, “A” is incredibly sweet and full of quiet confidence, which I think explodes out of her photographs.

And had to throw in the impromptu family shot that I absolutely adore!

I have known all three of these children since the day they were born, so I know that I see a lot of my own personal experience with them when I look at the shots. It is my greatest wish for my clients to have the same experience when looking at their own sessions with me. I strive with each and every session to take photographs that depict the essence of my subject…to capture the heart and soul of a person so that a framed picture in your home comes to life in your mind when you look at it. I want the memory that it captures to be a permanent reminder of a precious moment in time that will make you smile every single time your eyes drift past it. Alright, I suppose that she is technically not a baby anymore, but she will always be my baby and is super sweet for sure! There are some fantastic perks to being the niece of a photographer, the first being that she is always my go-to girl for testing out all my new toys and props for the business. I can’t think of a better tester with more refined taste! :-) This is also quite fortunate for my sister and brother-in-law, who have endless pictures of their sweet baby girl in all the precious stages of her life. Of course, these are some of my most treasured photographs because not only does my enthusiasm for what I do come across on the "film", but also my passion for this little angel, who I could not possibly love more.

Since becoming a homeowner, I’ve started to appreciate things that had never crossed my mind, not the least of which is plants and yard work. Beyond that, I am exceptionally excited about the birds! I know it sounds strange, but I have been fortunate enough to have two very special experiences since we moved in…and now I find myself in love with them. Our home backs up to a green belt that is chock full of birds and this spring some cardinals decided to join our family by making a nest in the crape myrtle in the backyard. I had the unique opportunity to witness the entire process, from eggs to precious living baby birds! I have even found myself getting a little too carried away at one point, standing in the backyard furiously yelling at a hawk overhead to leave my babies alone! Honestly, I could not make this up if I tried! Since I am…well…ME, I took entirely too many pictures of the baby birds in their progression of life. I really can’t help it. This is what I do. :-) Here is a little tribute to our other family members from this spring!

My latest bird watching expedition in the backyard is with the hummingbirds! For the past couple of weeks I have noticed them chasing each other relentlessly when I take the puppies outside and I was finally inspired to take some initiative. One trip to Wally World and a giant sticky mess later and we are the proud owners of a hummingbird feeder, full of sugary goodness for our little friends. My husband has been getting a huge kick out of my treks into the backyard in vain attempts to capture these incredibly fast little guys on film. Let me tell you, this is NOT an easy task and I have a new found respect for nature photographers! There was one scary moment when I found myself ducking and praying that I was not going to get my eyes pecked out! It has been an interesting adventure to say the least and while my safari efforts have not exactly yielded the perfect picture, I would say this is not bad for a first shot!

Okay…so that is a slight exaggeration…but I DID get the chance to photograph a young man that could easily be his stunt double! To say that J is cute would be a gross understatement according to my step-daughter and her best friend, who were along for the ride for this session and extremely happy about it. My husband works with the Cox family, so we all packed up and headed out together for this photo shoot, which was a wonderful treat. The girls ended up being the same age as J and this led to some major flirting and a good bit of teasing from me and Mama Cox. A great time was had by all and some truly fantastic pictures came out of the evening!!

the Hernandez Family

I have a weakness for grandparents…a secret soft spot in my heart for the innate sweetness that comes from loving grandbabies…and that makes this photo shoot very special to me. Every five years this beautiful family gathers all of their members together for a giant portrait and this year Janet commissioned me to do the honors. It took mere moments in their presence to realize that I had stepped into a close-knit family whose strong bond would be glowingly obvious in all the pictures that I would take. They were a willing crowd up for anything and I was able to get not only the group shot, but also individual family portraits as well. The highlight of the day was easily the session with the grandchildren; I found myself getting carried away in the light of their joy and ended up apologizing for keeping the parents waiting with our antics! The little sprites were full of good ideas and reveling in the fun, which I have no doubt their parents and grandparents are well accustomed to. Enjoy your sneak peek Hernandez family…it was a delight to be surrounded by such love and I hope to meet again soon!

This one is just the girls…you can feel the love for their grandmother radiating from this picture and for that reason, I adore it.

When I met Janet and her husband, I immediately thought about taking a few shots of just the two of them. As it turns out, they had just celebrated their anniversary days before the shoot and were more than willing subjects. They were so adorable and still so obviously in love…and Janet looked simply amazing in her killer dress!

When I walked away with the grandchildren in tow, Janet called out specific instructions…natural pictures and no posing! It then came as no surprise that this energetic bunch loved to pose and proceeded to do just that! Sorry, Janet! They were so hysterical; after we took these shots, the girls noted to each other that they were “so going to be in trouble for these”. How adorable are they?! :-)

If you take a sweltering summer day in Texas, combine it with a trip to the Dallas Arboretum and then throw a toddler in the mix, you end up with one hot day and the distinct possibility of major meltdowns. My subject, Little Miss H, was undaunted by the heat and had an absolute blast running around playing while I attempted to keep up with her two year old exuberance. As I have been living inside these pictures during the editing process, I could not help but look into her eyes and wonder what must have been going through that adorable little head while the crazy redhead chased her around with a large black camera for hours! She was an excellent sport and seemed to decide early on that it was not that bad being followed around by her own paparazzi. I was even able to capture a few smiles here and there, which are a rare find since she saves them for only the most special moments. I consider myself very lucky to say that I have photographed this precious little girl since she was in her Mama’s belly. These are the parts of my career that bring me the most personal fulfillment; watching these babies grow up in front of me and getting the honor of turning those moments into art and memories that will be cherished by these families for a lifetime. This is when you realize that your clients have inadvertently become an extension of your family and watching them grow and change is suddenly apart of who you are. Photography is an intimate relationship with people inviting you to look through your lens at their private lives and turn their moments into memories.

The Pièce de résistance was without a doubt the watermelon outfit! Just add matching shoes and she was ALL DIVA!

For the special summer attraction this year, The Arboretum set up precious little play houses all over the grounds, each one highlighting a traditional children's story. Miss H was in heaven running and playing in each and every one. This particular one was a miniature house with two doors and Miss H chased Mommy around and around through them endlessly. This shot was a result of this chase and I ADORE it... I think it might be one of my all time favorites of her!

So Mom and I plotted prior to the session for these shots; it was all Melanie's idea and I LOVED it. She kept the lollipop well hidden from Miss H until we were nearing the end. Everyone was tired and hot and the poor little angel was about done with us and this silly picture thing... that is until Mama the Good Fairy bestowed her surprise present on her tired little princess...A LOLLIPOP!! Have you ever seen a kid be any happier? Seriously!

Moral of the story: Mom's, if you have an idea for your children's portraits PLEASE tell me when we are planning your shot. We can get the shot you've been dreaming of with a little planning and plotting! And of course, a little bribery. :-) Just let me know what you dream about capturing and I will do my best to find a plan that will make it come true! You have but to ask!

the Kiel's

My growing photography business has given me more than just an outlet for my own passion; it has also brought me joy in subtle gifts that never cease to surprise me. One such gift is the rare opportunity to reconnect with friends from long ago and see their new world through the lens of my camera. The Kiel family is a prime example of this gift. I went to school with Michelle’s husband Jim and her older sister Melissa, and during our shoot I had the chance to meet not only the precious Kiel children, but Melissa’s also. They were older and wiser and amazing helpers with the much adored little ones. Melissa’s son is her very image and it caused me to smile and shake my head on more than one occasion! How wonderful to see the face of a childhood friend so perfectly placed on her little boy! After a shoot with the four grandchildren, I headed downtown with the Kiel family for a change in venue and more fantastic shots. The day was a resounding success and while I have no doubt that my sanity was questioned during our treks all over creation, I know in my heart that they will think it all worthwhile when they see the pictures below! They are a beautiful family and it is an honor to capture these memories for them.

I could seriously eat these little cheeks for a snack!!! :) Such great baby goodness!

To say that I am in love with this family picture is putting it mildly! I wish we had a family picture just like it!! :)

Another Mommy to be!

Meet Christy and Jack... I had the MOST fun with these guys!!! They are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Mr. W... which I'm told at the latest will be next Thur! YEAH!! Jack was funny and silly... couldn't make a straight face to save his life... well with the exception of his "model" face! At one point he told me he was going to charge me OT for taking so many pics of him!! LOL!! Seriously I had so much fun he keep me and Christy in stitches most the session!! I can't wait to meet and capture little Mr. W's first few days for you guys!! :) Thanks for showing me such a great time you guys! :)

Christy and Jack are HUGE, let me say that again, HUGE football fans. NFL and on the college level... in fact they are a house divided! Thus the reason for the picture below! We pulled these fun helmets out of Mr. W's room! I'm going to try and incorporate them to his newborn shoot!

If you know me very well you will know I'm not one to "brag" about my photography. In fact most the time I first see any flaw in my work rather than the good. However for the pic below I knew IMMEDIATELY when I saw it on the back of the camera that it would be one of my all time favorites! I even said so to Christy... she probably thought I was crazy!! ROCKIN' photo's and I need your help!

So my Dad asked me to take pictures of his band at Church a while back. Let's just say I don't see me being a band photographer anytime soon!! None the less even though I can see the technical flaws in these pictures I still love them cause my Daddy's in them! :) Just thought I'd share a few with you! :)

So I need your help on a new logo! I'm rearranging the name to be simply Melibelle and along with this change I'm getting a logo! Since the logo will be what's on your pictures I want your input on which you'd rather see on your photos!! So in the comments please let me know which number logo you like! While in Tyler a few weeks back I meet up with this sweet little Momma and her to beautiful girls for a maternity session. Her girls where so sweet, very willing to pose whenever I ask!! :) The oldest little love was so sweet and she was standing behind me at one point acting like me saying Momma smile! One of the things East Texas is known for the Pine Trees. So I figured we should use what's around us so we went to the woods! Jennifer might have thought I was crazy!! But I think they turned out lovely!! Added bonus sun flair!! :)

So as a photographer I love to cruse through other photographers blogs whom I look up to to get inspiration and just in general to learn and keep up my mojo! So the other day as I was doing just this I stumbled on a challenge post... that couldn't have come at a better time. While on vacation a few weeks ago I realized I HATE to have my picture taken! Silly right ?!?! I'm the photographer, I should be ok with it right? WRONG! So here is the post that made me take a pic of myself! I did! And got two I'm OK with. Now part of the post was no "fixing" skin etc in photoshop. So this is me... no photoshoping! I just sharpened it a bit and did the fun seventies thing I heart so much on my own pics! Please also not I didn't even fix the mark on my tooth that my braces left oh so many years ago!!! That's right I'm letting you all see my deepest darkest secret!!! I hate that mark! Anyway here I am! If you have yet to meet me now you can see me! Or my face anyway! It's hard to take a self portrait of more than your face!!! :) An because one of my furbabies is a better sport than the other I have to throw in a few cutie pics of her!!! I have the the best job in the world, getting to capture a lovely sweet little family that just had twin boys! Not sure what it was about these 2 little men but I was so involved and at home with them when I started packing up I realized I had been there for 4 hours!! As embarrassing as this will be to admit I actually teared up towards the last part of the shot when we put the boys together for pics. They had the best big sister who helped when needed and just chilled when needed! All in all I had a GREAT time shooting this family!

Well kinda! So I have 2 step kids, there great! Like any blended family we can have trying times but over all our family gets along pretty good! So the kids mom ask me to take K's dance pictures this year, I was of course happy to!! It was a hot long day but we got some great pics! Now PBM had a new little friend Mr. "D". We took pictures a few weeks ago when he was up here in the DFW area for a poppy ole' doctor's appointment. So he and I had some fun before the appt at his Great Aunt's house, which was beautiful by the way! He was Mr. Serious for most of the day, I did manage to catch a few smiles! Mostly when Momma would play peak a boo with him!! :) So for Momma here is a sneak peak of your precious little man!!

So the I got to spend Memorial Day at Alexis and Mark's wedding! They had a small intimate ceremony and reception at Thistle Hill in downtown Ft Worth. Apparently the place is haunted! They left this little detail out till the end of my time there!!! Good Plan!! My Uncle actual shared this little gem with me after the happy couple had made their departure. You can read one haunting story here luckily I saw no ghost while there! Alexis is actually my cousin so it made it extra special to be able to capture her special day. Her Husband Mark is a silly fun guy so he keep the laughs and antics coming all night! Enjoy your sneak peek guys!!!

So a few weekends ago I had the pleasure of being a part of Jessica & Cody's big day in White house at Victoria Station. It was a lovely event and the owners are fantastically nice people who were great to work with! Jessica and Cody are the sweetest little couple and I had a blast being a part of your day guys! I think Jessica was the MOST laid back bride I've ever seen! There was threats of rain ALL DAY... while it did sprinkle of and on then ALL through the reception she never missed a beat!! I would have been a wreck..Not Mrs. Jessica! The girsl pics before had to be moved to the pourch and she didn't blink an eye!! Awesomeness! I hope all my future brides will be this cool! :) So without any more rambling from me here's a sneak peak for you crazy kids!! :)

Welcome to my brand spakin' new photography blog! As I have been blessed and Photography by Melibelle is growing I decided it was time to take the blog step! You see all the photographers I admire and look at there site often have a blog! they share sneak peaks, tid bits of each shot, tid bits of themselves, news about Photography by Melibelle (PBM), and I just adore them. So I hope that this blog will become something you, my customers, and friends can come to adore as well! I'll give you a warning now... I'm no grand writer!! I use ... and !! WAY to much but I'm just so darn excited about photography and everything that it involves that I feel a million !! is totally in order!! :)

Now I just want to share a glimpse into me and why I love photography so very much! I'll start by explaining my love for my own family's photographs. I'm a HUGE fan of ANYTHING that is from my past or my family's past. Recently my grandmother gave me 2 boxes of photographs from my childhood... this is like GOLD to me! My parents are divorced so I have very few glimpses of this life, so when I get them you'd think I won the lottery! My husband was laughing at me cause I looked and looked at these pictures for 2 hours! I was little and cute and I love to see the love my parents had for me when I was just an infant and can't remember! This is what I'm thinking about anytime I'm behind my camera. It's constantly running through my head that some day someone will adore these pictures as much as I adore the boxes I recently received. Again about 6 months ago my grandmother handed over my mother's bridal pictures and my parent wedding album... being divorced neither of them care about them but MAN do I! I wasn't born when they got married so I LOVE to see these, and I'm always thinking that when I'm shooting a wedding... their future children are going to LOVE seeing their parents as a young and so in love couple! Wow I think I may have to go look at all these pics again!! Anyhoo just wanted to share with everyone my passion for taking your pictures and a little history on it! :)
